Mayor’s Commission on Health to Host Health Resource Fair on March 7

[Columbus, Georgia] – The Mayor’s Commission on Health, in partnership with The Food Mill, will host the Health Resource Fair on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Food Mill Shared Kitchen, 3720 5th Avenue, Columbus, Georgia 31904.

This community-focused event is designed to increase access to healthcare services, promote preventative care, and connect residents with vital health and wellness resources. Multiple healthcare organizations will be on-site providing free medical screenings, tests, and educational materials. Please note that there will be a cost associated with certain services, including vaccines and STD testing.

To ensure accessibility for all residents, METRA will provide transportation to and from the event. Transportation vouchers are available at the METRA Transfer Center, 814 Linwood Boulevard, Columbus, Georgia 31901.

Planning Advisory Commission Meeting Location Change for March 4th
[Columbus, Georgia] – The Columbus Consolidated Government is notifying the public of a location change
for the upcoming Planning Advisory Commission (PAC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, at 9:00
a.m.

The meeting will now be held in the Board Room at the Public Education Center for the Muscogee County
School District, located at 2960 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia.

The date and time of the meeting remain the same; only the location has changed.
Citizens and stakeholders who plan to attend are encouraged to take note of the updated meeting site. The
Planning Advisory Commission appreciates the community’s continued engagement and participation.

Notice of Road Work – Biggers Road
[Columbus, Georgia] – Beginning Monday, March 2nd, the resurfacing of Biggers Road from River Road to
Whitesville Road will begin. There will be intermittent lane closures, and the work should be completed in the
same week.
Motorists are encouraged to proceed with caution during the resurfacing.

Public-Private Partnership Announcement [Columbus, Georgia] – The Columbus Consolidated Government is proud to announce a new partnership with The Landfill Group for the construction of a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Facility to be located at the Pinegrove MSW Landfill, 9000 Pinegrove Way.

This project represents a collaborative effort between the City of Columbus and The Landfill Group. The Landfill Group began construction of this facility in 2025 after securing all necessary permits, approvals, and contractual agreements.

The Renewable Natural Gas Facility will become fully operational upon completion of construction, which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026. All extracted methane will be processed and sold to outside users as a renewable energy source, supporting environmental sustainability and responsible landfill management.

To celebrate this partnership and recognize Arbor Day in the State of Georgia, The Landfill Group and the City of Columbus will host a tree-planting ceremony and guided landfill tours for special guests on Friday, February 20, 2026. This event is invitation only and not open to the public as it is an active construction site. An official public ribbon cutting ceremony will be held later once full commercial operations are achieved.
